So, your exhibition opens today at Festival Hyères. What can we expect?
The show is curated by Michel Mallard, who I deeply respect. The show will be my work trough his eyes. He made a great selection of works and the room will take the visitors on a journey trough my visual world over the past five years.

Are you having a nice time in Provence?
I rented a nice country house with some friends from London. Its a wonderful house with a huge garden surrounded by fields and trees. We even have goats in our garden (and goats are one of my favourite animals). Its just lovely. More Friends are arriving from France, Germany and Belgium this evening. It feels like a nice holiday and we are enjoying the time together; grilling fishes, taking boat trips on the sea, reading poems, exploring nature and having late talks at night with wine and cheeses.

“The moon always follows the sun,” the title of the exhibition, is gorgeous and evocative. What’s behind it?
I am fascinated by the fact that things come to you and find you in the right moments. You just need to be aware and open, and not on a search. Last year I experienced the loss of a great love and was unable to understand the concept that the world kept on turning. For me everything stood still and I was extremely confused by the fact that my world stopped, yet the outside world kept on turning. One day in an African bookshop I found a poem titled “The moon always follows the sun.” It gave me much strength at that moment. I thought it would be a wonderful title for my first exhibition and a good link to my book title “Pluto and Charon” and my fascination with the universe…

one more day to go! tomorrow is the opening of the 26th festival of hyeres. my exhibition “the moon always follows the sun” is set up and we are all very excited.


for our stay some friends of mine and I rented a really nice country house in the nature of hyeres. its wonderful. we have goats in our garden!


wish you all could be here.! we could grill fishes and drink wine at night.


and from time to time i would read you guys a poem.

the sun will close its circle in the sky before i close my own.


this evening i was sitting on my roof thinking of tomorrow. i plan to buy comics, sweeties and magic tricks.



i dreamed about a safari and was wondering how it would feel to ride a giraffe. if i would have my own giraffe i would use it as a crane. i would for example deliver letters to my friends who live above the 7th floor.


soon i want to tell you about my new found friend rose. who is the oldest friend i ever had. she is 90 and she reads me her poems out loud. She likes to talk about love and eat smelly cheese and so do i. you should meet her for a cup of tea. she is wonderful.

these days i am really happy to run home and jump into my bed… my friend enrique is camping in my room. i love to camp and i love to talk late at night… especially if its talking with my friend enrique. in the mornings i wake up and look at him and i get really happy inside… its wonderful to have friends like him. its wonderful and it makes you strong for the day.


today i am also really excited to go to bed fast and to wake up early because a few month ago i joined a volunteer organisation called “befriending lonely elderly”in london and i became the friend of the lovely jewish elderly joe. tomorrow i will visit my elderly friend joe and i will surprise him with a passover lunch party… maybe we will dance tango too.! because joe used to be a wonderful tango dancer.
